Alipay is the brand that Chinese would be proudest to work for, new rankings from YouGov BrandIndex reveal.

The analysis looks at which brands people would be proud or embarrassed to work for. Online payment platform Alipay tops the list with a score of 46.6, followed by electronics manufacturer Huawei in second place (44.5).

Other Chinese brands have a strong presence in the top ten. Rewards programme Jifen Bao takes third place (44.1), national carrier Air China comes in fourth (42.8), instant messaging app WeChat in fifth (39.7) and household appliance Gree in ninth (37.5). Luxury brands also fare well – with Rolex tied in seventh place (38.4) with Chanel.

The list is completed by confectionary brand Dove in sixth (38.6) and athletics retailer Adidas in tenth (37.3).

The rankings also reveal the brands that have seen the biggest increase in their scores over the past 12 months. Imaging and optical manufacturer Canon heads the list with a score increase of +22.4, followed by printing brand Epson in second (up +10.7 points) and automobile company Smart Automobile in third (up +7.1 points).

Ervin Ha, Head of Data Products at YouGov APAC said: There is a clear sense of local pride amongst Indonesians – six of the top ten brands people want to work for are home-grown. This can be seen with Alipay taking first position for the second year in a row. Being seen as a top employer is a good indication of strong brand health.”
